Grab Your Sunscreen!

With summer fast approaching, we're all more than ready to hit the beach. However, before you play in the sand be sure you're properly protected! It might seem innocent enough to lay out in the sun and develop a light glow but, down the road, your skin will beg to differ. With skin cancer rates on the rise, it's incredibly important to keep yourself healthy even while you're out in the sun.

The American Academy of Dermatology says that, whether you have fair skin or dark skin, it's always important to wear sunscreen when you hit the beach in order to block both UVA and UVB rays (make sure you reapply after you go swimming!). This will protect you from damaging rays that can cause cancer and ugly sun spots. You can even buy makeup containing SPF like the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation and BlistexFive Star Lip Protection - these will protect you even when you aren't at the beach. Every year Sephoracomes out with their Sun Safety Kit that is full of great products to help protect you this summer!

If you still want to show off a golden tan, don't despair! You can still fake it without the risk of skin damage. Check out your local tanning salons and ask them about spray tans, just
make sure you get the right color for your complexion. If you don't want to drop big bucks for your tan then check out the self tanning section in stores like CVS and Rite Aid. You can use lotions, sprays, and even mousse to give yourself a healthy glow. Be sure to check out Glamour's top self-tanning picks that include Nivea Sun-Kissed Beautiful Legs, Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer, and Lancôme's Flash Bronzer Airbrush!

Follow these easy tips and you'll be good as gold (in more ways than one!). A slight tan now is not worth possible health risks down the road. Keep it safe this summer!
