You Won't "Poo-Poo" These Eco-Friendly Paper Alternatives

Who says paper has to grow on trees? As part of a continuing effort
to provide eco-friendly items in our stores, we're carrying a variety of
paper products that come from places you would not expect.

Stonepaper - No, we're not referring to
Flintstone-style stone tablets but rather paper made from a combination
of mineral powder and non-toxic resin. The production of Stonepaper
uses half as much energy as traditional paper production and no water,
trees, or bleaching chemicals whatsoever. This results in paper that is
tear resistant as well as water, grease, and oil-proof. In addition,
it's 100% recyclable and 100% degradable.  The unique texture is perfect
for exceptional writing - definitely something to write home about!

PooPoo Paper - This paper
is made from—exactly what the name suggests. But before you brush this
off as gross, take a minute to understand how this paper promotes
innovation and sustainability. Animals - like elephants, horses, and
pandas - live primarily off of fibrous vegetation. Therefore, their
waste consists of a lot of intact fiber! It is rinsed and boiled to a
pulp and then bolstered with other natural fibers. Natural and edible
food coloring mixtures are used to dye the pages which are then crafted
into raw sheets and rolls. All of the products are both odorless and
recycled!

CaneFields - Talk about a sweet deal - CaneFields
eco-friendly paper is made from sugar cane fiber (bagasse). This
agricultural residue is easily accessible and produces high-quality
fiber paper. CaneFields
focuses on sustainability, social responsibility, and the preservation
of our ecosystem by limiting greenhouse gas emissions and utilizing
green methods of manufacturing.

Going green can begin in places you might not expect. Interested in trying one of these alternative papers? Swing by your on campus bookstore and try one out for yourself!
